Banarasi silk sarees are handcrafted by the
weaving artisans from Varanasi. Banarasi silk sarees
are exclusively weaved with gold and silver zari threads that embellishes
between the designs to make it look more royal. These banarasi sarees comes
back from the Mughal era, inspired by their delicate designs and aesthetics.
The specialty of these sarees lies in the
teamwork of three artisans. One has to weave the silk, the next will dye the
yarn and the next one would bundle the processed fabric. The expert rare
artisans would take one month to one year in completing the design process of
the banarasi saree based on the pattern intricacies needed to complete the
saree.
There exists only four varieties of Banarasi
silks namely Pure
Banarasi (Katan), Organza (kora), Georgettes and Shattir. At
